I was wondering if a new in box CVA kentucky pistol kit was worth 140.00 bucks? Are they as good as buying a regular pistol. Would I be better off getting a kit or just one already put together? Thanks.

I built one of those years ago, a real nice pistol.
What does the completed pistol cost new?
Usually you save $50 to $100 with the kit. If so go ahead and do the kit, it is not too hard and it is a lot of fun. A little wood fitting, then staining and finishing.

The Blue Book of Modern Black Powder Arms Fifth Edition (2007) lists the factory made CVA Kentucky pistol at $130 in 100% condition. It does not mention a flintlock version.

I purchased an in-the-box Kentucky for $100. It is worth it. They are fun to shot. But for feel and pure enjoyment, I shoot my .54 cal Lyman's Plains.

Both are fun to shoot. As for how do they compare with revolvers, I will have to wait until my revolvers arrive to tell you.
