O/U shotgun Cant figure out who makes it?

I just picked up a shotgun from my grandmother that was my grandfathers but I have no idea who makes it , the markings say (SLE NY, NY-MAR MADE IN ITALY 12 GA-3") there are no other markings of the brand on the receiver or anywhere else, it does have chokes but they just say cylinder nothing else. If you have any info I would be thankful

Could it be SILE and not SLE?

SILE Distributors was located in New York and imported a variety of firearms under their label.

If you have any other info let me know serial# 142628...I would like to know the value and year it was made thanks alot

I checked in my Blue Book of Gun Values and it only indicates that SILE imported from a number of mfg, but does not give any specific information on any of them. Sorry.

When I was in Italy and Turkey back in the 80's, I stopped by a few gun shops and saw shotguns by several "no-name" local type manufacturers. Many of these seemed quite well made. It looks like Sile hooked up with some of them and decided to import them to the US.

And I thought I was the only one owning one of these. I purchased mine locally in New Jersey. I bought it in 1986 for about $650.00. I have no idea who makes it. I will have my wife go through the paper work and see if she can fing the original invoice.

If I get anymore info, I will pass it along.
