Any issues if I shoot up the brand new 1 lb. container of Pyrodex rifle powder I found in the pile of reloading gear I just bought?
I have a Pietta 58 remmie, so far have only fed it fffg black. Just thought I would use up the Pyrodex sometime.
I know it is larger grained, and meant for rifles.

Pressures will be a little less than Pyrodex P in the same amount in volume & it should burn OK for you but due to the larger granulation you may have to go with a hotter cap till you are done with the RS powder "don't quote me on the caps because I've never done it."

I've been using Pyrodex RS (FFG) in my Ruger Old Army for a month now with great results, especially at 100 yards (even better than Goex FFFG for some reason). I tried Pyrodex RS in my Walker last week but the Walker didn't like it that much.
Check this out, from an old Colt Industries pamphlet:
"FFG black powder is best for large and medium-size revolvers, and FFFG for the small pocket models, but any grade that is available will work reasonably well."
As a lube experiment I've been using the vegetable spray PAM down the barrel and on the cylinder pins with great results.

I've used RS for years with standard caps. No problems.
