Theres a Mossy 930 12ga with an 18inch barrel at my gun dealers. It seems to be in vg+ condition, but I know nothing about them. They want $389.

Are the reliable, ammo sensitive? etc.

Or should i spend another $50 and get the 590.

Is it an 835 (pump)? or a 930 (semiauto)?? Never heard of an 830.

Maybe it is an 835? If so it is the magnum pump and the 590 is not a 3 1/2" model. Or is it the 930 auto? Price sounds fairly fair...
Click on model than choose specs for a MSRP...

I would have sworn it said 830, but the lighting was bad so it could be a 930. It is an auto.

Here it is 930 Home Security

Worth 389, reliable?

The $389 price is about dealer cost when it was new. So it sounds like deal if it is in excellent shape.

I've only handled the 930's a couple of times in gunstores. Never actually owned or fired one.

They seem to get good reviews here and THR and have a fairly large following.

I have a 930 SPX. It's been quite reliable with any shotshell load I've tried so far, from 3-inch down to light 2 3/4 loads.

I've only found one drawback, and some might not even notice - - The Mossberg design houses the recoil spring in the stock, so it'd pretty much impossible to put a collapsible stock on and as yet, there are no bantam / youth stocks for it.

Remington's 1100/11-87 is the same.

I just picked up a 930 tactical(I think it's called) which is an 18" barrel model with that door breecher thingy machined into the end of the barrel... looks just like the home defense model pictured above otherwise(other than white dot front site instead of brass bead).

I got that for $410.

My dealer now has a combo deal(which I wish I would have bought instead) that includes an 18" barrel exactly from the home defense model pictured above, and a 28"(I think) bird barrel... that one was priced is $399.

Sweet deal for an auto shotty, they are very light, handy weapons.
