They've been around since 1903 and are still being made. I guess you've never heard of an 8 or 4 gauge either.

28 ga. is one of the four guns used in skeet competition. Almost every builder of o/u and SxS guns builds them. Most of the pump and auto builders make them too. I hunt pheasants with a Ruger Red Label 28 ga.
Now, can you walk into any gun shop and buy one. Maybe not but you can order one. Their general popularity as a buy over the counter for no apparent reason gun is not too high.........

You'll probably have to order one. Browning and Remington both make them in pumps. Browning, Charles Daly, Ruger and Weatherby make them in O/U. SXS's are available too. Yep they used to make a 4 gauge. Some of the boat mounted punt guns went up to a 2 gauge.

You could also pick up an H&R NEF Pardner in 28 ga.

Shouldn't cost you much over $100.
They are fun and handy little guns.

why'd you buy ammo you've never even heard of?
Or was it mixed in with a huge lot of ammo that you wanted?

Remington's 1100 in 28 gauge is sweet to shoot - recoils likes a .22 and cleans the clocks of quail, doves and chukars very nicely......

My personal preference in a 28ga is a Browning Over Under XS Skeet model with 30" barrels. Its one of the most versatile guns I own - for skeet, some sporting clays, and for quail or doves in the field.
