Hi all,

I own two old but lovely and rock solid Winchester pumps (120,1200), as well as an old bolt action Stevens thats not 100% functional. Im looking for a third shotgun for home defense, and while I do prefer pumps for controllability, I figure since I already have two I should get a semi to complete the spectrum.

While I would have wanted an 870 for the pumps, I am looking for a semi auto that is similar in size, weight and legendary performance. A semi auto 870? Does it exist, is there something similar like the 1187 I hear so much about?

If you want a Remington automatic shotgun for home defense, look no further than the 1100 tactical model.

Edit: Or if you're into the classic look, hunt around for a used Model 11 or Browning Auto-5 :)

I have an 11-87, 1100 is pretty much the same. Very happy with it. Very easy to clean and it seems to be very robust.

I have an 11-87 special purpose. I have a 21" remchoke barrel for it that I use with a +3 remington LE extension. I also have a 28" barrel for birdies and such.

It's been a solid performer for me.

I've also owned an 1100 in the past and it was 100% as well.

I have two 1187 Police models and they are rock freakin solid. It has the feel of a tank in terms of durability.

Well mine is premier:p

:)

I think the 11-87 is a jump in quality ove the 1100. My owners manuual is for both and there a re a few section where it says something to the effect of 'for an 1100 you will not have this part so there is no reason to remove it.' I am no shotgun expert buut when I was breaking it down I thought 'wow that part seems kind of important' every time I read it.
