Hello,
I have lurked the shotgun forums searching for 870P info and decided to order one. The only one that my dealers dist. has in stock is the 4901, http://www.remingtonmilitary.com/fi_mle_870Pstd.htm, and is asking ~480(NIB of course). Is this a good deal or should I wait. I would probably order the factory mag extension as well so w/ tax + fees it would be well over 6. I am unsure whether I want the ghostring's or not, it seems that many ppl like them and some don't, other than that the only thing I want that the 4901 doesn't include is the mag extension. Thanks for your time and help. Located in Northern CA (Bay Area) so guns are somewhat overpriced (at least it appears that way to me).

Have you tried Helms House of Guns in Santa Rosa? He seems to have lots of good deals on used stuff.

Yea, called them, they didn't seem to have it, and said that the only 870's they would have were 350 NIB(and the basic express model).

Have your dealer find another Remington LE distributor.

As example: Jerry's Sport Center's network lists Police guns.
800-234-2612

As example, last Fall's catalog listed a Remington #4407, synthetic stock, magazine extension, bead sight, 18" barrel, parkerized finish for $495.00 DEALER COST.

The 4901 was a 20" barrel, parkerized finish, no extension, bead sight, synthetic stock, for $480.00 DEALER.
Note these were the prices payed by the dealer, NOT what they'd charge you.

All you really need to do is find a local dealer who will find a LE distributor and make a special order for you, AND who won't try to scalp you on the price.

Another California source that's advertised a lot is:
http://www.capoliceequip.com/

They list the 4407 at $559.00, but that's their retail price.
