i have my grandfathers old shotgun and i was wondering if you could help me ID the maker. my grandpa said he bought it at sears and roebuck its a side-side 12g, double triggers, american stock, full-modfied. it has the words ranger chief and the left side of the reciver and he said he cant remember when he bought it ( he's 75yrs old). the gun is in perfect condition besides some wearing of the blueing on the reciver.
thanks

need more info or pics... it is possibly a J.C. Higgins (common sears private label) but no clue to manufacturer. Can you post pics and more info?

here they are, forgot to mention that there are no ejectors just extrators, theres a thumb safety on the top of the gun which resets it self after a shot when the breech is opened

Your gun was made by the J Stevens company, Probably between 1920 and 1940. Sears used the Ranger name, before using the J C Higgins name on guns.. JFC
