My first post here, been lurking for a while now, thanks for all the information.

A few weeks ago I bought a 12GA 870 Magnum Special Purpose shotgun with a 20" cantilevered barrel and a few chokes from a fellow that used it to hunt deer and turkey. The gun is marked Remington 870 Magnum on the left side of the receiver and Special Purpose on the right. It has a black matte finish with black composite stocks. The trigger housing appears to be metal (aluminum maybe?) I purchased the gun for $200 and hopefully got a fair deal. I haven't read much about this gun but have read a lot about the Express and Police models.

Lately I wanted to use it for home defense and possibly some local three gun matches so I purchased a 20" Remington rifle sighted barrel and a Choate mag extension.

I installed the barrel and extension but after looking at some pics here and on other sites I really like the Remington brand of the barrel clamp. I read somewhere that Uncle Mikes makes a copy of the factory clamp but haven't been able to locate one.

I looked at Remington's parts list on their site but wasn't sure which barrel clamp and other parts I needed to order. I really want the clamp with the swivel pin on the bottom. (I don't care for the clamp that came with the Choate extension with the sling mount on the side).

If someone could give me some information on the gun I have and direct me to the Uncle Mikes part number or the correct Remington clamp (and screw and nut) I would appreciate it.

Thanks again

Unless you have a genuine Remington factory extension, their clamp will NOT work on any other extension.
The Remington extension has a groove in the middle and the clamp screw fits into that groove to lock the clamp in place so it won't slide under recoil.

The factory clamp has a screw spacing that will not fit other extensions.

I also am unable to find the Uncle Mike's clamp on their new site.
I suggest contacting them and ask about it.
Another option: Tank's Rifle Shop shows the clamp on their site:

Thanks for the information. I was worried it could be something like that. I'll give Tanks a try. Thanks again.
