a lucas bore guide? How does a cleaing rod compare with a boresnake?

bore snakes suck for serious cleaning.
I use Dewey, Pro-Shot and some other brand - I think Bore Tech... I think I like the pro-shot best.

I'm a cleaning rod guy. Debris tends to get embedded in snakes. Have you tried Tipton Carbon Fiber rod? It kicks ass. A bit pricey but it follows the grove smoothly.

We looked at the Tipton rods...
In fact, I've got a tipton rod and the handle somewhere... On the other one, the jag holder came unglued...
They may have fixed it, but the ones I saw were NOT straight. If they're not straight, they're more likely to bend inside the barrel, and rub on things.
Let's see...
I've got pro-shots, deweys, bore-techs (like 'em), and the Tipton things (got them free) which are somewhere...
