ok so for my combined b-day x-mas present my girl is giving me $200 to but a shotgun with. yesterday at the local pawn shop i found a stevens 12ga for $135. it fit the criteria for what i want. the pump feels a little loose and the stock is a little worn but all seems in order. i believe its a model 67 although im not sure.

the shop has a guerentee that it will shot or i can return it.

so what do you guys think?

Don't you do it!!!

The model 67 had very spotty quality issues. The last few years they were made, they were absolute junk.

You can buy a new Maverick for that $200.00 and a few boxes of shells. The Maverick is a proven gun very similar to the revered Mossberg 500.

If you want to do the research you could get good deals buying store brands.
Sears, Western Auto, JC Pennys, and a bunch of other chains had shotguns made for them by Winchester, Mossburg, and others.
If you know what model is which you can get a fine gun for much less than if it wore the makers name.

For instance a Sears Model 200 is a Winchester 1200. You'll pay lots less for the Sears and get the same gun.
