Excellent value for the money invested, usually. Depends on how much they are asking. You didn't specify the model.
My experience is that they are tanks. Very strong, very rugged, no finese.
If you want something that will take use and abuse, this is it.
If you want great wood, deep bluing, and a lively feel, you have to keep looking.

Very rugged, nice shooting shotgun. My buddy has one that he loves. The break-open action was VERY stiff at first but it's getting a little more useable each time that we take it shooting. As far as the looks, I actually think that my buddies has nicer wood than I usually see on field grade hunting rifles made in the US., the steel leaves something to be desired. Hope this helps.
By the way my buddy purchased his Baikal for about 450.

I bought a Baikal 12 ga ou several years ago (Izh-27) and put around 5-6 thousand rounds through it with zero problems.
Check this site for tons of Baikal info, feedback and tips.

I bought the IZH-27 in 12 guage and 20 guage. These are nice solid guns for the money! Very dependable and NO issues at all after three seasons. This is coming from a guy who appreciates his Browning automatics.
