I'm going to be camping out and ATV riding in the southern part of Illinois for 3 days. Should I pack my G23 or G21SF? Normally I pack the G23 everywhere, but I'm torn between caliber size and physical pistol size.

What do you guys think?

I would go with the G23 because you get more magazine capacity without any real sacrifice in power.

Good luck,

Actually, the 23 and 21SF both hold 13 rounds...It's a pure size of the Glock vs size of the caliber question! Tough...

While it's true that the 23 and the 21 both come with standard 13 round magazines, the 23 has the option of using 15 round and 17 round magazines too.
I don't think the 21 has that option.

Check out Glock's website.

Good point. Unfortunately I bought it during the ban days and I have 3 10 rounders and 2 13 rounders! I have never thought about the 15 or 17 round mags because they stick out of the bottom of the gun, correct? I prefer that my mags be flush with the bottom of the pistol. Just preference!

Normally I do this or shoot a shot at my Nerf hoop. Unfortunately I am so indecisive about the outcome that I rarely go with it. I think that since they are both great guns, I may just flip a coin...Although, it's been awhile since my G21SF was out. Maybe it's her turn. The G23 has been stealing the spotlight lately...

You should definitely pack SOMETHING. You think like I do. Any time I go camping, or on a long road trip, one of my pistols gets chosen to join us on the trip in the glove box. I like to rotate my guns (I liked your statement about one of them "stealing the spotlight" - yours guns are part of your family as well, eh?) My oldest gun is a 9mm and while it's a very modern gun, it stays on my nightstand mostly. I tend to want to carry a 45 these days.

Hell ya! I thought about packing them both and my Benelli Nova Pump H20 in 12 gauge. 1 Glock for riding, 1 Glock for the campsite, and the Benelli if all hell breaks loose!

If you have to pull out the shotgun, I hope the other people with you can shoot - because you're gonna want em to grab those Glocks while you pump away with the 12 ga. Hehe!!

Well, it kinda sounds like you really want to take the 21 with you, and there's nothing wrong with that!

But you might want to get some of those 15 and 17 round magazines for your 23....after all, the democrats are back.:D

Don't forget the ammo. When I camp/hunt I usually take fmj's to plink, hp's for 2/4 legged critters, and shotshells for no legged unsavories.

Sounds like the only logical thing to do is buy a new 29 - you need a 10mm. ;)

Is Illinois now a carry State?

There really wasn't much out there. Tons of deer, but you know I wouldn't shoot at them with a .45 (especially out of season)!
