Brand new, fired maybe 75 times.

Followed instructions (both in manual and found online) to a tee.

Slide will not raise off frame. Any more pressure from any direction and I'm afraid I'll remove a finger or thumb on the bottom of the slide.

Am I missing something?

Anybody got a trick?

Does the spring need to loosen more from firing? I feel like I ought to be able to disassemble a firearm right out of the box.

It's one of the newer S&W series if that matters.

Thanks in advance.

You are pulling the trigger guard down and off center before trying to remove the slide by pulling to rear and then pull up and over the barrel...right.

It is unloaded ?? Magazine out.

Assuming you're doing everything right, its a minor defect. Several of the PPK pistols from S&W were incorrectly put together or something, meaning you can't disassemble it. If I recall correctly, the recoil spring was either the wrong part, or im properly installed. Just send it back to S&W and they'll fix it as they did mine.

I called them and they had a packing slip at my door the next day. Kind of an inconvenience, but they make it right.

They can be very tight. The slide has to be ALL the way back for the rear to lift up. Pull a bit harder backward and see if it comes off. May take some finagling.

Mine wouldn't come off when I first got my PPK/S but after 100 rounds it comes of really easy. It's just a very tight fit, it takes a little breaking in for it to loosen up.

S&W has had a problem with this I would call and ship to them. Mine is easy to take apart.

Been there, done that. What PSP said.

If you're doing that properly, and it still won't come off, let us know.
