I received a Remington 760 .30-06 from a family member and decided to brake it down last night. I was having trouble removing the pin at the top of the action tube where the screw is, I’ve never seen this before and was wondering if this is in fact a pin that should be removed, while trying to loosen the screw the whole tube loosend and came off, with clip guide to the barrel and the screw still intact. I put some PB blaster on it last night so maybe the pin might be able to be tapped out tonight.

I just wanted to make sure before I start tapping, that this is a pin that should be removed before the screw comes out.

I will be getting a manual for this asap, the remington site has the manual for the 7600, its kind of close but the pin is not there on that rifle.

Thanks
Jeff

I read this thread because I have a wonderful 760. I'm sorry I don't know the answer to your question, but maybe this will help:

Thanks Doyle, thats what I already have from the 7600 manual I got from the Remington website. I emailed them and they're going to send the Manual for mine, it's from 1952 so maybe there is a difference.
