I was told by someone that you can't drop the hammer on the Kimber 1911's to make them double action instead of single. Is this true? Is this with all 1911's?

True 1911s are single action only, although Para makes a 1911 look-a-like in double action.

Sholling meant that Para makes a DOUBLE action 1911 variant.

All 1911 model guns are single action only. Once the hammer is dropped, the gun will not fire. The 1911 is designed to carry with the hammer cocked (cocked and locked) and once the first shot is fired becomes a semi auto and will fire subsequent shots each time the trigger is pulled until the magazine is empty.

Actually I meant exactly what I said. It wasn't meant to slam the Para, but I don't consider the LDA to a 1911 and neither does Para. If you look at their product list they show the 1911 and the "1911 style" LDA as completely different products. The LDA a fine DA "1911 style" or look-a-like pistol but it's not a 1911.

Edit: Oops I just caught and corrected my type.
