This is going to be my first AK. I have a couple of AR's. Where's the best place online to purchase a Saiga? I checked Bud's and they don't have any.

there are a lot of places:

classic arms
sportingarms.com
stanleysproshop.com
gilbertsguns.com
armsofamerica.com

several more. you should be able to find one in the $249-$259 price range (IMO, i like sportingarms.com, great people). shipping will depend on the vendor, plus your ffl transfer fee ($10-25 normally). then if you want to do the conversion:

www.gunmallusa.com (you'll spend about $85) to get all of your conversion parts. you can choose from a single hook trigger or double hook (go single... trust me, if you don't want to file your reciever for the better part of an hour, go single), the hammer and disconnector for $35. If you don't want a skeleton stock, go to kvar.com and get thier NATO length fixed stock and pistol grip ($45 plus shipping).

then all it is is following the tutorial:
http://www.cross-conn.com/Saiga_Conversion/index.htm

if you follow it step by step, it's no problem. so all in all, i spent like $405-$430 for a true russian made ak-47.

OH... you'll want a FCG retaining plate too (kvar.com like $11)

any questions hit me up. i just got done with the conversion

krebs is good, but $$. for what they do, you can spend half the money.

$250 ? Really, I have to check that out. If I like them, I could get a custom.
