my second shotgun is a 20 ga, 311d w/ fireblued frame, 26" sxs barrels, strong checkered pistol grip and on lower side of hand guard, 1V and 7Vin ovals, large BW stamp on frame and barrels as well as As in a circles, some more #s w/ V in ovals. looking for man. date on this one, thanks. rick

Not hijacking your thread but I came here to post the same question. Mine is a 16 gauge with tennite stock, 5100 stamped on the right side, Stevens Model 311 on the left. Under the left chamber is DW and what might be an 8 in a cirlce. On the bottom is a triangle with 3 hash marks, one on each side of the triangle.

All of the OLD Stevens dates of manufacture were destroyed years ago. Any REAL dating by someone will be a guess unless they were present when the gun was purchased. If the gun was made after 1949 it will have a date code. Here are the codes:

Mine was made in 1952 according to your post. When I took the forearm off I found another stamp, DW, a G with a circle around it and an 8 after that.
