Here is mine, a 45/70 with a Leupold FX-2 pistol scope on it. I am sure that it will work for deer this fall as well. I've had it for a year and a half, I just got the scope put on a couple of weeks ago. Best -

Having trouble posting pix, but mine is a Marlin 444 with a Burris compact 2-7x. Shoot Hornady 265 light mags and reload with 300 gr. Beartooth Oink. oink!

My Hog gun in 30.06 w/ a Leupold 3-9x used 180 gr Federal Soft points. The Hog went down and never got up when I hit him right behind the ear.

How about a kimber montana for a hog rifle.
300WSM seems to do the trick pretty well.

There's one bad-ass from Texas who took a 375 pound boar with a Springfield Armory TRP. I have heard rumours of another fellow who does it with an Arkansas Toothpick.

Swiss K-31, milsurp, with scout scope. Handload with 150gr. Sierra GameKing at about 2600fps. Did the job just fine.

There was one in my neighbours yard a couple years ago and i wasnt home to go shoot it so he took after it with a 72 chevy halfton a single shot .22. It was one that had escaped from a farm somewhere cuz we dont have them in the wild.He said it took about 40 rounds to bring it down and ten more just to make sure.
I told him he was a doofus and he should have just waited until i got home but some folks are just a little bit stunned.

Right now my preferred hog gun would have to be my Marlin 1895 in .45-70, with a standard-position Bushnell Elite 3200 2-7x32mm., or a close 2nd choice being my .30-06 sporterized model US 1917, topped off with it's Sightron S2, 3-9x42mm. But I have at least two guns on my want list that would make better big hawg guns when I acquire them - a Remington 750 in .35 Whelen, and a Teppo-Jutsu AR10 upper in .500 Phantom. I'll post pics when I get a sec at home.
Having said that, I hunted for hogs (unsuccessfully - no shots taken) earlier in the year with a .25-06 Howa.

Don't know how to do the picture thing, but I use a Ruger #3 in 45-70, red dot scope, and a real shooting sling.

My Wichita 10" single-shot pistol is chambered for 7mm Rimmed International, a wildcat created by necking down the .30-30 Winchester to 7mm with a 40-degree shoulder and minimal case taper. It's the predecessor by a few years to the popular 7-30 Waters cartridge.
It pushes a 140gr 7mm spitzer to 2000+ fps, but you really should wear shooting gloves. :D
