View Full Version : Springfield M1A

My brother found that his barrel was loose on the receiver,
on his Springfield M1A.
You can hold the barrel and open the chamber, and turn the barrel.
Then you can see the barrel twist, where the chamber meets.
He called Springfield, and they said to send the M1A back.
Has anyone had this problem with their M1A's in the 308?
He's had the rifle for several years, he only shoot the rifle to check
his zero for deer hunting.
Not like he shoots the rifle in at Matches,or shoots the rifle alot.

I have never had a problem with mine. Sounds like sending it back is the right answer. He can remove the stock to make it more compact and send it through the mail rather than a private carrier, which should save money if SA won't pick up the tab.

Talked to my brother today after work.He sent the rifle off by FedX. to Springfield.
He sent the rifle in a gun case with stock and all.
Cost him only $20.00 with $1300. worth of insurance.
I sent a handgun to Ruger last year and it cost me$50.00,
but the hand gun had to be sent over night.
