What is a 10/22? I know what a .22 is but have never seen it described as a 10/22.

I used a Sako .17 but have been told there are .17 rim fires. What is a .17 HMR? (Holy Mother rimfire?)

What shoots a .22 rimfire case 1.056" long? Thanks

10/22 is a ruger rifle that shoots 22Long Rifle cartridges. It is an entry level 22 that is highly customizable.

HMR Hornaday Magnum Rimfire.

So HMR can apply to ANY rimfire? When you say a "ruger" does that apply to Ruger only? Is an entry level .22 like a CZ452 American which I have?

go google "ruger 10/22" you'll find pictures of the rifle. it is a semi-auto rifle that fires .22 long rifle ammo.

.17 HMR is a specific 17 calibre round. guns chambered for that round will only fire .17HMR ammo
Hornady is the name of the company that designed and produced the ammo.

I think it's called 10/22 because it holds ten rounds of 22 ammo in the rotary magazine. Which is why Ruger named the rifle 10/22.

rapier is right. There are several dozen modles ( mainly different stocks) within that rifle type.

HMR= Hornday Magnum Rimfire. Or, in my world Hopeless Money Raker. ;)
