does anyone know if there are a list of companies that deal in custom uppers for ar15/10 -- i know a few places offer uppers but hard to find one in some of the weird wildcats i love, - i know it might sound weird, but for those of us in CA where you cant even have a detach mag on an AR it becomes a legitimate problem -- i heard of a few places that make 17 rem uppers, and ssk makes a 221 bireball upper but -- does anyone know of where i might be able to find such information - on other wildcats like the 17 mach 4, or on the 260?

Check out ar15.com most of the banners on their site are from companies that make all sorts of fun ar stuff. A word of warning though, their forums are not exceptionally friendly.

curious... what is a .17 mach 4?

Armalite has an AR10 in .243, but not .260. GA precision will make you an AR in .260, based on an Armalite, but they're not cheap. DSA will make you an FAL in .260 but that's not an AR though.

DPMS has AR10-types in .300 saum. Olympic Arms has AR15-types in 6.8spc, .223 wssm, .243 wssm, and .25 wssm. Alexander Arms has AR15-types in 6.5 grendel and .50 beowulf, which are the two most interesting to me.

If you can't have a detachable mag in CA, how does having odd-caliber uppers help with that 'problem'? Or did you mean that you're looking for odd-caliber uppers that are Cali-legal, with fixed mags integral to them?
