IIRC the paratroopers in WW2 were issued either ordinary M1s or the side-folder carbine according to who they were.

Someones idea of making a under folder paratrooper version that didnt pan out ?? :confused:

Tell me that lever just ontop of the stock is that some sort of trigger modification for full auto ?? If so someone might have been trying to make a light machine gun. Yes it would be limited to 8 shots but if your more intrested in a lighter rifle then a BAR who knows might have been "effective" :cool:

Gentlemen,
This folding stock M1 was tested by Ordnance for use in the field by different units. The main problem as some of you have stated was that the folding stock was not strong for combat op's. I only know of one built and it is at SA. During testing we drop the bomb and the war was over.
