I have a Winchester Model 70, 30-06 with a wood stock. It has a butt-plate but no recoil pad. If I install a custom fit limbsaver pad, am I likely to need to have the stock cut down for length of pull? Is it safe for the gun and is it worthwhile for recoil reduction?

If you want to keep the same length of pull you will need to shorten the stock by the thickness of the pad. The limbsaver works very well at softening the jab to your shoulder.
