I'm looking for my first AR15 and AK47 rifle. I will use these rifle for plinking only. I like the AR15 carbine 16 inch barrel looks. My budget is $1200, so this got to cover both rifle. That's all my wife will let me spend or she will never let me buy another gun again if I go beyond the $1200. I want these rifles just because I can say I had one too. Also, they look conviencing and vigorous. Will be making the purchase less than 1 month, so any advise, links, recommendation and online store you can think of will be helpful in this purchase.

All feedback will be appreciated.

In order to afford both, first, get a Romanian AKM. You can get them as low as $300 to $350 if you shop around. Second, build your AR. You can get a receiver for about $100 and a kit for about $500 through Model 1, J&T distributing, or many others. By doing this you can get two 4 packs of AK mags at Centerfire systems for about $50-$60 shipped, and a few AR mags at $10 each (if you shop around), with enough left over to buy a Raven/Lorcin/Jennings/Bryco/High Point, or a decent amount of ammo. I would go with the ammo :D .

Convincing and vigorous, huh? If image is your primary motivation, I suggest purchasing your new hardware from Airsoft. They have AKs and Ar15s as well. Full auto, even. Just my opinion, but that's the way I'd go. You'll save a ton of money too.

Trapp that sounds like a good idea, however I don't know jack about building an AR15. So that's kind of out of the questions. Maybe I should start doing research on how to build one then go from there.
