Of the above three, which would you purchase for indoor range time AND bedside 2am home defense? Or would you simply say "go with the Beretta PX4 Storm"? I have a S&W 686 but I'm worried the 125gr. hollow points may penetrate too much in a contemporary suburban home.) Should I be concerned with the .40 overly penetrating sheetrock? Thanks!

Of those.
Berreta. Better triggers, and better over all gun.
Also look into the XD and a Sig

Beretta 96, but not the Vertec.
Use the ammo designed by the mfg. for self-protection. Lighter bullets, I think.
CX4 Storm could be an additional consideration depending on which Beretta pistol you decide to get for magazine compatibility.
Good Luck!

Which of the 96's do you like? The Vertec wasn't my first choice but it does come with an eqipment rail, on which I would like to mount a light (for the 2am BG's). My first chice would be the Brigadier INOX but it has no rail. Thanks!

I've got five Berettas - the triggers are excellent out of the box and they're absolutely reliable.

+1 for Beretta
Beretta Elite A1 also has the rail…but can't you just flip on the lights or buy a hand held flashlight? :p

As an sw40ve owner I'd have to agree the baretta is more at home for a range gun. better accuracy, better trigger, and better sights. I love my sigma, but its not designed to be anything other than a defence gun. I would consider 9mm if you will be at the range a lot as the ammo is much cheaper. I have shot the m9 and by buddys m92 but notthe 96.
