Folks:

If one wanted to smooth the slide rails, even on a non-GunKoted pistol, would KG2 or JB Bore Bright be good to use - how would you apply it?

KG2 is non-embedding I think.. It seems to me that even fine sandpaper may be a bit harsh...

(I did use some KG2 on my newly Gun Koted PreB, and it worked well. What about on a CZ polycoated gun or blued gun?)

Some folks wiser than I use JB in a slurry mix with oil -

I also use JB and oil. It doesn't take much lapping to get a silky smooth slide-to-frame fit.

Try Simichrome, just as it comes out of the tube.

Is the gun not working well?

I will shoot it (Blued 75 Compact) for the first time this week. It just doesn't feel quite as slick as my older PreB CZ 75 which I just refinished in Gun Kote. I will probably leave it go, if it shoots well - no use rubbing off finish if it is not an issue. I just wanted to see what folks did. Thanks - good point.
