Are the Beretta U22 and S$W A22 made by the same company--the barrels, sights and take down system look similiar to me???

I have both. They are both well made but the 22A-1 is an excellent shooter while the U22 NEOS is average at best.

The sights on the 22A are excellent target sights while the NEOS sights are okay, at best, and do not adjust smoothly. If you want to use an optical sight the rail on the Beretta is standard Weaver but the 22A rail will not mount optics with integrated mounts (like the BSA red-dot).

The bore and chamber are also slightly larger on the U22, which probably accounts for the diminished accuracy.

I also found that the grip angle on the U22 was not as comfortable (angle, not shape) as the 22A grip. I have 2 other shooting friends that had U22s and now have S&W 22As. The three of also have Sig Trailsides and the 22As shoot almost as well as the Trailsides.

Smith should have kept the 422/2206 guns in production instead of thos damn 22A/22S plastic fantastics.....

The stock sites on the U22 are "clunky." But, with a good dot or a scope, the NEOS is a great shooter. I shoot mine from the bench at 25 to 100 yards.

If you are interested, here are some links to pictures of my NEOS from NIB through various optics . . .

My favorite optic on the NEOS is . . . I can't make up my mind! The Leupold is great, but so are the Nikon and the Holosight.
