Who here uses gen-4 or gen-3. How does it compare to gen1?

Light years above Gen. 1, but you'd better be independently wealthy if you're thinking about buying one (gen. 3).

I'm actually thinking about putting down a good wad of cash for some top of the line nightvision. To those who have actually used a gen4, how much better is it then gen 3? I am hearing rumors of a "gen-5" which is a gen4 with a thermal imaging option. How far is that around the corner?

At the price I am paying I am approaching the priceline of thermal imaging. Are there any thermal imagers with a headmount that can display in B/W and also in spectrum?

Suppose I do go with gen 4, the question is should I go with PVS7 bi-ocular goggle or PVS14 monocular? Anyone know the trend of military tests? I heard a rumor higher ups are gradually phasing out the goggle and switching to monocular for better adaption to night sight as well as increased FOV during CQB.

Cannot speak to gen4, but the difference between gen1 and gen3 is like night and day, literally.
