I'm hearing all kinds opinions on this. In one case, people say it's okay if it's not in large quantities. In other cases, such as in the "Guns Magazine" Feb 2004 edition, Bill Laughridge of Cylinder & Slide is noted as saying:

Listen to Bill Laughridge, who said to me, "Tell your readers in all caps, DON'T USE +P IN HI-POWERS! It's been my experience that even a few magazines of +P will upset the locking lugs."

I had read a few opinions of +P in Hi Powers, indicating that it was not necessarily a bad thing. However, the opinion of someone with as much experience and expertise as Bill Laughridge has me seriously doubting the use of +P ammo in this handgun.

I have a MKIII Practical, which from my understanding should be one of the stronger Hi Powers made in terms of metallurgy. What experiences do any of you have with +P in Hi Powers?

Hello. If interested, here are some personal observations on the Hi Power with both +P and standard pressure ammunition.

I have heard in some of the older guns it was not a good idea - I dont see any reason why it wouldnt be OK in the newer BHPs. I have shot 50 rounds of +P in mine with no ill affects.
