Would it be ok to use +P ammo in a Ruger P345? A buddy of mine told me that some guns will not be able to handle it and others aren't reccomended to shoot +P by the manufacture. Thanks in advance for the help.

You probably won't be practicing with +P all the time. Ever once in a while should be fine, but I don't own any Rugers.

The +P ammo I plan on using would be in my self defense magazines. Want to get some Federal Hydra-Shox.

From the P345 Instruction Manual:
"The Ruger P-Series pistols are compatible with all factory ammunition of the correct caliber loaded to U.S. Industry Standards, including high-velocity and hollow-point loads, loaded in brass, aluminum, or steel cartridge cases. No .45 Auto ammunition manufactured in accordance with NATO, U.S., SAAMI, or CIP standards is known not to function in these pistols."

Sure sounds like all standard pressure and Plus P ammo is O.K. with Ruger.
