View Full Version : P-12 Para - funny feeling

I've had a Para P-12 for several years; ghost ring Novaks rear and white dot front. I recently installed a Kings Kit on the Para! This pistol despite its short bbl has never boobled with me. Now with the "kings kit" I've got that funny feeling in the gut - it comes with guide rod (I don't like guide rods) a buffer (I don't like buffers) a new spring (old one was perfect) and I had to file the front bushing to fit. It's supposed to be stronger?? The bushing is very thin! I'm suspicious! I now do not have the confidence in the pistol that I used to.
I'm going to use another kings bushing to remedy this feeling and slighly decrease the size of the reverse plug.
Do any of you guys have a "feeling" for this - if so spit it out.

I remember the instructors at Gunsite telling us they've never been able to observe any advantage to recoil spring guides, so you might just go back to original configuration there. If you are concerned about spring binding, see if Sprinco (http://www.sprinco.com/) has one for your gun? He makes them out of special silicone spring steel and treats them with a permanent lube. He also has a unique drop-in recoil buffer system you should look at.

Could it be the funny feeling comes from the recoil buffer you got from King's? They do change the feel of recoil a bit, making it a little spongy like the gun had too heavy a recoil spring and wasn't getting all the way into counter-battery.

Harry, messing with success will give you that feeling, but you can always put it back the way it was.

Dear Shooters:
Yea, I can use the old bushing and the new spring system as the reverse plug will fit the old spring or the new one. I measured the Kings Kit today and it is as thin as the stock one. They want you to turn down the muzzle (of bbl) down to .696 instead of leaving it .700.
This P-12 has never boobled with me, but I don't feel good about it. I may use the factory recoil spring and the old bbl bushing as I DID'NT reduce the bbl. dia!
I just don't feel good about short compacts anyway; I'll take a full size single stack anyday.
A "bad feeling" in the gut just might translate to a split second in a gunfight and we do not need that!
Thanks for the comebacks
