When i change springs on my 45 do I thow them the old ones away or do I try and re-stretch them back---is that even possible or worth it?

:) Sure you can stretch them back, problem is they will be better for less than a magazine full. If they are tired, chuck em, don't end up like the rest of us, with a drawer full of junk springs. :rolleyes:

Actually, stretching springs ruins them.
Apparently it damages the structure of the steel, and the spring collapses quickly after that.
