There is a nice Wincherster Model 100 at a local store for $400 with 2 mags. It is in good shape, but I have a question about availability of magazines. I heard it was possible to convert M-14 mags to work in the M-100, thus eliminating the lack of available mags for it. Is this a good deal for one? Anything else you can tell me about this rifle (History, reliability, etc.) would be welcome. Action seems to resemble an M1 Garand or Carbine.

There would be a lot of work involved. Plus M14 mags are not exactly cheap. There are some M14 conversions done for bolt guns out there. But, they are spending propositions to begin with. ROBAR in AZ did one. Mo's in CT did one for highpower shooters.
