This might sound really dumb. I bought the guy i'm seeing a Ruger 10/22, but I'm only wrapping the box b/c he has to go fill out the paperwork himself. I was thinking about putting a rifle bag in the box for weight and as part of the gift. If the 10/22 is 37 inches, how come I can only find one bag on the Ruger site, and its 40 inches? Is it bad to have all the extra inches of bag? I've also looked through the MidwayUSA catalog, the Browning catalog. Who's got one that they like and where'd they get it?

The extra few inches are not a bad thing. If you were talking more like ten or twenty inches then it might look funny at the range when he goes to remove the smallish rifle from the big-a-- case. :)

Most cases in that size range, I've noticed, will jump from 36" to 40". Better to go with the longer one and be assured of having room to fit without busting a zipper.

The Ruger logo case is made by Allen, one of the larger rifle case makers. Their products have worked well for me in the past.
