I was recently given an old air rifle. :) It is a single shot with the action breaking in front of the stock. The only markings still visable are:

An ornate S.A.R and three interlocking arrows at the butt end on the receiver. "made in japan" stamped at the left side pivot point near the front of the stock.

It shows signs of a lot of use and I can see why. It is easy to use and acurate.

Any information??

If it's stamped "Made in Japan" most likely it's from the 1960s-1970s. Also some photos (detail photos) may be helpful in identifying the airgun in question.
Not familiar w/ SAR offhand.

Some thoughts:

1. Post a picture
2. Part of the stamping might be a "proof mark" done by companies like Hull Cartridge to "prove" an airgun was a real import.
3. Do the arrows look like this?

4. try www.airguns.net there are guys there that have one of "everything".

"Sharp" brand of air rifles are or were made in Japan.

I can't find much: http://www.chambersgunmakers.co.uk/Sharp.htm
