this sako m39 is cherry but has the post war stock. they are asking $224 shipped to my house. wood and metal are both very cherry....tia

A lot depends upon the maker. Tikka, Sako, or VKT. Also what's the year of prodution? Some of the 39's were produced after the war, so a post war stock would be correct.

I wouldn't put that much in it, but that's your decision to make. You can order one cheaper thourgh Wholesale Guns and Ammo.

i'll probably pick one up from wholesale. do the vg/exc pieces look pretty good?

The ones I've seen were all pretty much as advertised. The higher grade guns they sell generally look pretty good.
