Does anyone know of a book that will explain to me everything to know about rifles, including militery history and an explanation of calibers???

One book would be darn near impossible. Try the military book club ,NRA,of course the internet. Some names to look up ,Colt,Winchester,Remmington, etc.
Then you could do a search for famous Americans .Germans oh Peter and Paul Mauser
Browning is a good one ,also try at Military.com for history and links.
The library here may have some good stuff, haven't been in there much.
