View Full Version : 10/22 peep sights?

October 24, 2004, 02:58 PM
Does anyone have peep sights on their 10/22 or used them before. I was looking into getting some because scopes really aren't that fun to use. Any reccomendations on other replacement sights?

Thanks in advance,

There are some other ones that have a hk style hooded front sight. I hear that these are plastic though.

...don't get the Zipher(sp?) from Brownell's. They are Baaad. Get the Williams instead.

I was leaning that way anyway, I just want to know if they work.

I have had both the Eagle Ghost Ring Sights (H&K style) and the Williams Peep sight and they are worlds apart!

The Williams is made of aluminum and is adjustable for both windage and elevation, and the Peep sight portion can be replaced for diferent size peep holes. For my rifle I have three diferent sizes(2 by Williams/1 by Lyman) and they sure do make a diference in accuracy and at distance.
The Eagle on the othr hand is made in plastic and is pretty much worthless. No real adjustment and pretty flimsy, but looks the part of an H&K sight!

Go for the Williams Peep Sight! If you want to improve your accuracy but do'nt want to add the bulk and weight of a scope it's the way to go!

Goog Luck!

I have both on my 10/22! Williams and the Eagle Zephyr which is a hooded H&K style front. Lemme splain...

I first got the Zephyrs. The front tapered post sight is aluminum and a good sight. The rear is the loose plastic thing, junk. I bought the WGRS williams sight set which reccommends a higher bead front sight to regulate properly with the rear, its a nice bead, but I really liked the post. The Williams rear sight is miles above the Zephyr. The front H&K post sight is taller and just happens to regulate fine with the Williams rear.

It cost me two sets of sights, but I got what I want and its a wonderful setup. I know you can buy just the Williams rear, dont know if just the Zephyr front is available seperately.

Hi all,
Do you think there would be a market for a sight system that allows M16 type apertures and M16 type front posts to be used on the Ruger 10/22?

YES! There is a market for target sights on 10/22s (all of us who want more acuraccy but don't like scopes).

Welcome to TFL!

I bought one of the long barrel 10/22s that Wal-Mart was selling for awhile and put one of the WGRS sights on it. The combination of the longer sight radius and an aperture sight was great. Wish I still had that rifle...

Thanks for the welcome and I will be working on a sighting system.

Me too.

And the rear peep should be click adjustable rather then a slider.

How ' bout those front sight base sleeve (clamp-on) intended for match AR's? That might work.

I'm waiting for somebody to make a set of M1 carbine-type sights for it.

Mk VII, is this close to what you had in mind?

The prototype has worked out great. I am thinking about marketing the sighting system. It uses the front post and apertures for the AR/M16 rifle. This gives a good variety of sight pictures.
