I have a p229 that does not have a 357 SIG barrel for it and one that does. Is there a real reason not to just swap the barrels as needed. Or would it be better to just bite the bullet and pick up another barrel ? The gun is in 357 SIG.The barrel shoots great out of both guns. What kind of a problems could i run into ?

I'm surprised that you aren't asking this at the SIGforum.

The only difference, besides the barrel, in a 229 for the .40 and the 357 SIG is the site heights. The 357, as you might now, has a flatter trajectory, but that only shows up at long ranges.... so switch the barrels all you want.
