Dry Firing A New Marlin 880ss?

I read the owners manual and it does not mention dry firing so I am asking any and all for your help. Also what
can I do to smooth out the trigger, not that it is that bad right from the box? Thanks in advance.CZ4ME:)

In a word, don't. Dry firing is harmful to any rimfire as 90% of the time the firing pin hits the edge of the chamber and before you know it, you'll have feeding and extraction problems. I know that any trigger can be improved but I haven't looked at improving one of the Marlin rimfires so off hand I don't know what in particular might be done. George
