Second season here in CO was a great success for my group this year. We killed a small 5X5 on day one a nice fat cow on day three and a huge bodied 5X5 on day four. Not to mention we saw hundreds and hundreds of elk through out the hunt.

.300 Weatherby with my new experimental load. It is a 200gr X bullet loaded at just about 3000 fps. when he shot his huge bull the ole boy dropped so fast that I commented that he hust have spined him..... Nope it was a perfect behind the shoulder shot. I've never seen a bull drop faster or more dramatically to lung shot in my life. The bull was at just over 300 yards.

I really like these X bullets they are very tough and impart shock better than anything I've ever used and they penetrate like the devil himself.

Glad you had a great hunt and made meat. Those Barnes-X bullets really seem to do the trick. The ones that I have recovered are sure deadly looking. I just wish they weren't so finicky to use.
Drop me a line. I'm curious how your check ride went.
