Just had the thought - is the safety on a 20 ga 870 different than a 12 ga safety? I do intend to get a 870 youth model and the thought just struck me that there may be a difference. If so, I need to hunt one up for a planned purchase..

TIA!

Hi, Gizmo. No, the safeties are the same - I've owned and used both shotguns. The Youth model is a great little number, and I still regret the day I introduced a young lady to it - it's now in her collection! So much for chivalry...

Going on what's here, the safeties are identical in operation, and probably the same parts are used.

The TGs are different,of course, since the frames are.

IMO, a 20 gauge YE would make an outstanding HD tool.I'd probably want to add a 2 shot extension and a few oz of weight in the stock to heavy it up a trifle, but otherwise it's good as is.

I may have a line on some "Practical" facilities fairly close by.If I do,I may just run a COF or two with my HD 870 and the YE,to compare/contrast.
