I have a Bushmaster 20" H-Bar with an A3 flat-top.
I am thinking of getting an Aimpoint or Eotech.
1. Which do you prefer?
2. Should I mount to the flat-top or handle?
3. What are their usable distances?
I have a Vari X III Leuopold that I can mount for serious Hunting,Benchrest but I dont know how effective these CQB type optics are. 100 ? 200?
All replies are appreciated

I have a pro point on a Bushmaster 16". While not in the same class as an Aimpoint, the concept is the same.
Recently sighted it in at the range. At 100 yards the red dot just about covers a standard target.
But I was able to consistently hit about a 3 inch area on the target. I could be more precise just using the iron sights. Don't know how one of those will behave at 200 yards.
But they are an excellent way to shoot at a moving target because you have no parallax to deal with and it is easy to see your target while keeping the dot on it.

an aimpoint will pretty effectively target a mansized target at 200 yards
one trick is to mount it as far foreward as possible in the scout position
heres the A3 set up:

i have read that the carry handles for the A3 have a different profile than the A2 handles and the goose necks will not mount properly on them
