Info on "Texas Ranger" if possible.

Just bought an old copy of a Colt SAA. No ser # Proofed in Belgium with post-1893 proofs. Marked "Texas Ranger" on topstrap. Nicely worn hard rubber grips with a stag on em.
Notches on grips. Caliber marked on barrel as: ".38 long caliber of Colt"
My thinking is that it is one of the myriad guns that came here in early 1900's for Sears Roebuck, etc.
Very nice old patina and was in a nice tooled holster that the guy would not let go with the gun....rats.
Any info appreciated.

Lavan, the 'Texas Ranger' trade name was used by Montgomery Ward on inexpensive revolvers during the early 1900's. Hope this helps!

There were quite a few copies of Colt revolvers turned out in Belgium, beginning with the early percussion guns. There is actually a mild collector interest in these if in good condition.

confirms most of what I guessed. I like the silly thing because it is so nicely well used that it was obviously carried by some cowboy who wouldn't pay for a Colt.
