WTK: can 11-87P cycle 1oz. shot, 3 1/4 dram ,#6 shot game loads?
I recently purchased a new 11-87P and found it would not cycle
this load . I called the service dept. at Remington and was told to run a box of 3" magnums thru it first, still no success. Do I need to go to a heavier shot like 1 1/4 ? thanks, Relode |

It takes a coupla hundred rounds to break in most autos,Relode. If that thing still has trouble after that, then you may want a heavier load. Go to 1 1/8 and see what happens.....
I dount there's anything to worry about. |

Relode,
I refer you to this thread: http://gunspot.atinfopop.com/4/OpenT...5&m=4394019921 Text of the first post from "REMGunsmith" follows: <<The 1187 police 18" Rifle Sights (Tritium)is my choice for home defense, but there's one problem with them. They will not dependably cycle light loads. The answer is something Remington came up with for the 1187 super mag 3 1/2" gun. It's called the activator, all it really is is a stainless ring that's put in front of the regular gas system. I have tseted it out of mine with great success! (Beats having to make gas ports larger perminately altering the bbl. The company puts the activator on all the 14" entry guns now so that they can be used for training as well as actual use.>>

Problem Solved!!!!
I have found the lightest load that works reliably is
PETERS 2 3/4- 3dr.eq.-1 1/8 oz. shot- 7 1/2 shot (PT12M-71/2) HEAVY TARGET LOADS (blue) I previously was trying to use FEDERAL of the same exact specs and could not get even two in a row to cycle! Anybody have an idea why??? RELODE |

It's just one of those things, Relode. Shotguns can get really finicky. A fewthousand rounds down the road, yours may cycle fine with the Feds...
