Hey there. New member here. I have gone back through and read all of the posts that interested me (about every other one) in the art of the rifle once I found this site.
I'm looking into getting a BAR. What do you feel are the best attributes of this rifle? What are the drawbacks?
Are there any 10 to 20 round mags for it in 338winmag, 308 or '06?
What are the biggest mag's it can take? How does the magazine floor plate impede a larger mag? and or can it be "fixed" so I can put a bigger mag into it?
I am a big guy about 6'5" 345 lbs or so and I want an auto that has caliber worth using on deer and other large game, BUT I also want something that I can use when all hell breaks loose for defense of me and my stuff. Carrying around a little bit of extra weight in these cartridges in a large mag shouldn't prove to be much of a problem. also,Can you tell me more about the BOSS system? like what it is and how it works.
Thanks guys, Ive really enjoyed reading all of your posts over the last couple of days. This is a good site. I am here to stay.

togadelic,

I'm not aware of any larger mags than the four-rounders for the BAR.

If you want a dual-purpose semi-auto, consider a Springfield M1A.
