Need advice on an entry level AR15
So my brother-in-law is looking to buy an AR in the $600-$900 range. Any thoughts?

A lot of folks seem happy with S&W M&Ps in the $600 range.

A M&P Sport for $599 is hard to beat, there are plenty in the $600-900 range though. PSA, Windham Weaponry and Stag to name a few.

If he is willing to drive a few miles and spend a little more, Clyde Armory in Bogart has Colt 6920s, 6720s and 6721s for $1100 or less.

Psa if you can find a complete in stock you get a 1:7 twist fn barrel on an amazing rifle. PSA is awesome as long as you don't have to wait on it to ship.

Build your own. You can do it for cleaper and will be closer to what you want in the end anyway. Plus you learn the bonus of being able to matain the rifle better after you build it. It is not at all hard to do, and you can get directions anywhere. The other reason is you can do it over time, the lower, then the upper next pay day, and so on. It makes it easier on your wallet, you learn, and you get the rifle you want in the end.

For $879-1100, you can get a mid-length Spikes Tactical.
There are 10 dealers within 12 miles of you http://www.spikestactical.com/new/z/...n_page=dealers |

I'd have him check out PSA's site. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the Sport (lots right about it) but PSA has some of their 'premium' guns from $699-799 right now. I suggest the midlengh dissipator myself. PSA's premium barrels are as good as any AR under 2k and the guns they're offering a a little more customized than the Sport for only a little more. That's my 2 cents anyway....

Del-ton makes some good AR's I have an Echo 316/moe and its a very good carbine for the money. I paid $699+tax for my 316/moe. They make several different models. Some cheaper, some not.

Believe it or not, WalMart sells the Colt 6920 for about $950. It's pretty much the benchmark of AR's.

Walmart also sells a Sig Sauer AR for cheaper than the Colt. If it were me I'd be buying the Colt though.

My suggestion is a complete rifle from PSA, or build a rifle from PSA parts.
