Shotshell primers

Can you use 209 muzzle loader primers in shot shells that call for a 209 primer? The powder in the shot shell is red dot. Thanks in advance for the help.

The size 209 primer was used in shot shells long before muzzle loaders were modified to use them. Typically, shot shell reloading recipes are primer specific; however, some reloaders interchange some primer brands. Any number of primers can be used with Red Dot powder, but the powder weight will be different for different primers. Check a reloading guide.

muzzle loader 209's give you less spark than a standard 209. They will fit and function but not the best pick and standard 209's are cheap go get a box.
