Winchester model 70 bolt

I disassembled a winchester model 70 bolt & gave it a good cleaning. Reassembled and somehow the manual safety is jammed in the forward / "fire" position and refuses to return back to the "safe" position.

Can someone on this forum tell me how to remedy this situation?

I have stripped a lot of bolts in the past 30 years, but this one has got me stumped.

Please disregard my plea for assistance. I have contacted mr. Mark penrod @ penrod precision and he is going to correct the problem for me.

You can also visit the Winchester website and look at the online owner's manual which describes bolt removal & stripping. Winchester will also send you a a manual free of charge if you email them.

Finally figured out what needed to be done & got the top end of the bolt completely apart. Appears as if the contact area on the inner curvature of the cocking piece, needs to be gently removed a little at a time, until the safety lever can easily move fore & aft.
